Q: We want portraits for our "Save the Date" cards. How soon can you schedule us?
A: I typically book 2-3 months in advance. Flexibility with scheduling is required, especially during peak seasons (May-November). If you're hoping to have portraits done during a particular season, it is best to reserve your date as early as possible to ensure availability within my schedule.
Q: Do you provide the unedited or RAW files?
A: I do not provide clients with unedited or RAW images, nor would I consider including an unfinished product in your gallery for many reasons. Part of my editing process includes culling through all of the day’s images to discard anything that is duplicated, unflattering, or otherwise not up to my professional standards.
Q: How many images do you typically deliver from a wedding?
A: My philosophy is "quality over quantity." Generally speaking, a typical wedding with two photographers will yield 80-100 images per hour of coverage. However, because each wedding is unique, this number can vary.
Q: Why do you have a second shooter included in your wedding packages?
A: The second photographer is chosen from a short list of very talented photographers whom I am comfortable working with. The second photographer is responsible for shooting the groom getting ready, providing a second angle on the ceremony and reception, and assisting for creative portraits. It is my experience that a second shooter helps to provide a wedding collection that is unique, artistically creative, and helps to provides multiple perspectives of your special day. Because the second shooter provides a critical role in supporting me and helping to provide my wedding clients with a well-rounded gallery, I do not offer single-shooter packages.
Q: When should we schedule our engagement/portrait session?
A: Engagement and portrait sessions are scheduled Monday through Thursday, within two hours of sunset within 50 miles round trip of zip code 18066. My weekends are extremely busy during wedding season, therefore, I do not offer weekend appointments for portrait sessions. Requested locations that are outside of the coverage area may incur an additional fee and will be determined on a case by case basis.
As mentioned previously, sessions are typically scheduled 2-3 months following booking and are scheduled according to my availability. Flexibility during peak seasons may be required.
Q: If we opt out of the complimentary engagement session, will our package price be reduced?
A: The complimentary engagement session is an important part of your photography experience as it allows us to really get to know one another and it allows both of you to get familiar with the way that I work. The complimentary engagement session is strongly encouraged and it's my gift to you for booking. Because there is no extrinsic value assigned to it within the package, forfeiting it will not reduce your collection investment.
Q: Do we own the photographs?
A: Yes and no. You own the print rights to make copies anywhere you like for personal use. This includes sharing on social media and making prints. You don't own the actual legal copyright, unless specifically outlined in the contract. Profiting off the photos by selling them to third parties or submitting them for publication is prohibited.
Q: Do you have insurance?
A: Absolutely! If your venue requests it, I would be happy to provide them with a certificate of insurance.
Q: How do we reserve our wedding date?
A: The way to reserve the date is to sign a contract and put down a non-refundable retainer. My standard policy is for clients to retain the date for my services with a 30% payment of the total contract amount. The remaining balance is due no less than 30 days prior to the wedding.
Q: What if we cancel our wedding date?
A: Once you put down a retainer, I turn down all other inquiries for that date. In the event that you decide to cancel, my business suffers a loss. There are only so many wedding days in a year and I rely on those bookings as my primary source of income, therefore, the retainer is non-refundable.
